What Replaced VINELink in Nolan County
Effective September 1, 2025, Texas moved county jail and court notifications from VINE/VINELink to Texas IVSS-Counties. Existing registrations migrated. Migrated users did not need to register again, but they are prompted to update a password and review notification preferences.
The Attorney General describes county events that can include booking, release, court-setting changes, death, escape, and transfer to TDCJ. Delivery can use telephone, text, or email. Coverage depends on participating custodians and the data each supplies. No static official list established Nolan County participation during research, so check the live search or ask the sheriff before relying on alerts.
TDCJ operates a separate IVSS for people in state custody or on parole or mandatory supervision. It can support notices about release, discharge, parole review or decisions, bench-warrant movement, and warrant actions. County jail information and TDCJ information belong to different channels.
How to Check One Nolan County Person
Choose the portal by custody class before entering a name. IVSS-Counties is the possible route for Nolan County jail or court events. TDCJ IVSS is for Texas prison, parole, and mandatory-supervision events. Federal BOP and ICE custody require their own locators.

A county release notice does not rule out TDCJ, another jail, federal, or immigration custody. A TDCJ release may mean parole rather than sentence discharge. Confirm the event with the agency that created it.
Register for a Nolan County Release Notification
Current official guidance uses an IVSS-Counties account and preference controls. It does not confirm that a newly registered user must create a phone PIN. Do not import that legacy step into the current process.

- Open the correctly matched person record after comparing identifiers.
- Select the custody or court events that matter, such as release or transfer.
- Choose telephone, text, or email delivery.

Existing VINE users should use the migrated login, change the password when prompted, and inspect all preferences. A registration can remain active if a person disappears from public search and later returns to custody.
Legacy VINE PIN Instructions
The former Texas VINE brochure directed a phone registrant to enter a phone number or email and create a PIN. Automated calls repeated until the recipient entered that PIN to acknowledge the event or the attempt period ended. The brochure described attempts lasting up to 48 hours.
That information is historical. It helps explain an old registration or call, but it must not be represented as the 2026 IVSS-Counties signup method. Current materials emphasize migrated accounts, passwords, delivery preferences, and verification requested by the live workflow.
County IVSS and TDCJ IVSS Are Separate
Texas maintains two notification layers because county confinement and state correctional custody are not the same record. A person can leave Nolan County Jail in a transfer to TDCJ. The county event may correctly say release or transfer while the TDCJ record correctly shows secure confinement.
In TDCJ IVSS, search by name, SID, current TDCJ number, or prior TDCJ number. The help materials support wildcard matching with an asterisk. Read release, discharge, parole-review, decision, warrant, and movement events by their exact labels. A projected release date is not an actual event, and parole is not discharge.
TDCJ Victim Services lists 800-848-4284 and victim.svc@tdcj.texas.gov for its service. Those contacts belong to the state layer. For an uncertain Nolan County jail event, contact the jail and request the release or transfer record.
Nolan County IVSS Limits and Verification
IVSS warns that its data are not official records and disclaims accuracy, timeliness, and completeness. Notifications may be delayed, and a release can occur without advance notice. A person no longer in custody may not appear in a county search. Thus “not found” is not a release status.
IVSS does not replace BOP Locator for a sentenced federal prisoner, the federal docket for pretrial release, or the ICE locator for immigration detention. It also does not replace Nolan County's court file. The jail can state immediate operational information, but the sheriff does not accept a formal public-information request by telephone.
For strong proof, pair the custodian's written release or transfer record with the signed court order or TDCJ status that explains it. Record when the portal was checked. If the person left one facility, continue through possible receiving custodians until the record chain is consistent.

Review each selected event after migration because an old VINE registration may not match present needs. Confirm the telephone, text, and email destinations. Texas Registry Is Separate from Nolan County IVSS
The Texas DPS Public Sex Offender Registry is offense-specific and separate from both IVSS systems. It can show a qualifying registrant in the community and details required by registration law. It does not list all released people, prove current parole, or substitute for a Nolan County custody event.
Use that registry only when the legal question concerns registration, and match displayed identifiers. Do not add claims about a release date, present custody, or risk that the official record does not state. For release verification, return to the custodian and court file.
When a Nolan County Person Disappears from Search
The county portal expressly warns that its search is valid for people currently in custody or under supervision and that someone no longer confined may not appear. That design makes IVSS useful for current alerts but weak as a historical release index. A vanished record can also reflect spelling, identifiers, source timing, or a change in the supplying agency.
Try a partial name and each known identifier before drawing any conclusion. Keep the date and time of the attempt. Then check Nolan County Jail for present confinement, Citizen Connect for the matching booking, and the court index for the order that explains the case. If transfer is possible, continue to TDCJ, the receiving county, BOP, or ICE as appropriate.
A registration may remain active even while the person is absent and can resume if the person returns to custody. That continuing alert function does not create a public historical record.
