Federal Custody Near Nolan County
No federal prison was confirmed in Nolan County. Federal relevance comes from a possible transfer, not a local BOP facility. USMS generally controls federal pretrial movement, while BOP handles sentenced federal inmates. A county booking can end because USMS moved the person elsewhere.
The BOP Locator can be searched by register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number, or by name with demographic details. A historical result may report a release date and Not in BOP custody. That phrase is limited to BOP custody and can coexist with state or local custody, supervision, or immigration proceedings.
The official BOP Inmate Locator provides the nationwide sentenced-federal search.
Its result documents BOP status only, so the federal docket or another custodian may still be needed.
Federal Release Record Outcomes
The Nolan County Jail is the main local adult booking facility. It receives people arrested by the sheriff and may also receive arrests made by Sweetwater police, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other agencies. A closed jail stay can lead to several different places. Someone may walk into the community after bond, dismissal, a judge's order, or completion of a county sentence. Another person may leave the building in restraints for TDCJ, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE. Both events end the person's physical stay at the Nolan County Jail, but only the first is a simple community release.
Probation adds another path. A court may place a person on community supervision after the jail stay, and the 32nd Judicial District CSCD may then oversee the case. That is not parole. Parole follows state imprisonment and is administered by TDCJ. A state prisoner can also return temporarily to Nolan County on a bench warrant and later go back to a TDCJ unit. The jail's release or transfer entry should therefore be read beside the court judgment and, where relevant, the receiving agency's record.
A disappearance from Current Confinements means only that the person is not shown in that live Nolan County view at the time checked. It does not prove community release.
Confirm a Federal Prison Release
The sheriff links an official Citizen Connect Inmate Confinements portal. Its Current Confinements mode is useful for a present-tense check. The Admits by Date Range mode can locate an earlier booking with a last-24-hours choice, a last-seven-days choice, or a custom span of no more than 31 days. Those are admission searches, not release lists. Record the search date and compare the full name, booking number, identifying details, charges, and arresting agency. Name-only matches can join the wrong person to a record.
If a past admission appears but no current confinement does, use this sequence:
- Save the booking number and the date range associated with the Nolan County Jail stay.
- Call the jail for an immediate custody check and ask whether staff can identify release or transfer.
- Submit a written request when documentary proof of the date, time, type, or destination is needed.
- Retrieve the related bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or commitment from the correct court clerk.
- Check TDCJ, the receiving county, BOP, or ICE when the jail record points to another custodian.
The court document explains the legal authority for the event. The jail record is the better source for the physical time the person left this facility. Together they are much stronger than an alert, social post, or third-party booking page. The broader Nolan County released inmate search explains how those local, state, and federal sources fit together.
BOP Locator Release Fields
A focused request is more likely to identify the right existing records than a demand for every document. Ask for the booking sheet, jail card or confinement history, booking and release date and time, public release type, releasing authority, public bond and hold information, transfer destination or receiving agency, and booking photograph for the specified stay. Include aliases, an approximate booking period, and the booking number if known.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Booking and release timestamps | The documented limits of the Nolan County Jail stay |
| Release type or authority | Bond, court order, sentence completion, or another stated basis |
| Destination or receiving agency | Whether departure was community release or continued custody |
| Bond and holds | Publicly releasable conditions affecting departure |
| Booking photograph | The image tied to the identified booking, subject to applicable law |
Citizen Connect does not promise a retention period for released bookings or label a release-time field on its public landing screen. Do not infer an exact release time from the moment a name vanishes. Ask the records administrator for the field as it exists in the jail's own record.
Federal Release Record Routes
Federal release records split by custodian. BOP's nationwide locator covers sentenced federal custody and can preserve a historical release result. USMS handles federal pretrial movement but offers no equivalent nationwide released-person feed. The federal docket and clerk supply the detention or release order for a pretrial defendant.

No BOP institution was confirmed in Nolan County
A Nolan County jail record matters only when it names USMS or another federal receiving agency. Follow that handoff into the federal case. For a sentenced person, compare exact name, age, race, sex, and any known federal identifier. Older BOP records have coverage limits, and Not in BOP custody does not resolve state, local, or immigration custody.
BOP Release Versus Transfer
The receiving system determines the next search. For a felony transfer, the statewide TDCJ Information Search may show the person after intake processing. A Nolan County offense in the state record identifies a conviction county, not the person's current unit or release location. Parole and mandatory supervision mean the person left secure state confinement but remains under sentence supervision. Discharged means TDCJ authority has ended.
A federal transfer may involve USMS before BOP receives a sentenced person. The BOP locator is therefore not a complete federal pretrial index. An immigration detainer can also lead to a direct ICE transfer after Nolan County's authority ends. In either case, a closed county booking does not mean the person walked free. Ask the jail to name the receiving agency, then use that agency's official locator or the controlling court case.
- Community release
- The person leaves custody under the stated local legal authority.
- Transfer
- Physical movement from Nolan County Jail into another agency's custody.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision that may occur without a prison term.
- Parole
- Supervised release after service of part of a state prison sentence.
- Discharge
- The end of the correctional sentence or supervision shown by the responsible agency.
Federal Court Release Proof
Nolan County says its judicial records from 2000 forward are searchable as an index. An index can locate a case number, party, filing event, or disposition label. It is not always the signed proof. Felony matters generally belong with the District Clerk and 32nd District Court. Misdemeanors generally run through the County Clerk and county court. A city ordinance or Class C case may remain with the Sweetwater Municipal Court.
Request the actual signed order that fits the event: a bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, discharge order, or other dispositive filing. A court order may show why release was lawful, but it often will not show the minute the jail opened the door. Pair it with the booking or confinement chronology. If a transfer followed the order, also use the receiving custodian's status record.
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs requests for existing public information held by Texas governmental bodies, subject to confidentiality and exceptions. An agency need not answer research questions or create a new report. Narrow dates and named fields help the office identify an existing record and apply any required redaction.
Correct a Federal Custody Record
When a federal locator result appears wrong, verify the federal identifier and exact spelling before seeking correction through the federal source. A county clerk cannot alter BOP data, and BOP cannot establish a pretrial release order that belongs in the federal court file.
When an official release field appears wrong, identify the booking and case, then send the originating office a clear correction request with the signed order or other support. Changing a third-party copy does not alter the jail or court record. Texas expunction and nondisclosure rules can also change later access, so an absent result should not be treated as proof that no event occurred.
Note: Use BOP for sentenced-federal history, the federal docket for pretrial release, and Nolan records only for the local handoff.
